Preparation of the Environmental Goods and Services Account (EGSA) of The Basque Country

The purpose of the project was to obtain data on the production of goods and services aimed at protecting the environment and/or the more efficient management of natural resources, within the ESA (European System of Accounts) framework, integrating the environmental information of the Basque Autonomous Community into its central system of National Accounts.

To this end, Metroeconomica carried out the methodological design for drawing up the Environmental Goods and Services Account of the Basque Country, following the methodology of the Central System of National Accounts and the conceptual framework of the Environmental Account (ECA) in Europe (Eurostat) and Spain (INE). Based on that, the consulting team developed a methodological definition and preparation of the corresponding methodological report and technical statistical project. Once the framework was set, it was followed by the calculation of the main variables relating to the environmental economy in the period 2015-2017. The last task was a communicative presentation of the results.
