Project description
The consultancy supported the Asian Development Bank in strengthening the application of economic analysis for climate adaptation and resilience investments. The work focused on developing methodological guidance to assess the costs and benefits of adaptation projects, particularly those aimed at delivering transformational adaptation and resilience outcomes, and to support the integration of economic analysis into project design and decision-making processes.
The project included the development of a guideline describing how cost-benefit analysis (CBA) methodologies can be applied to quantify the specific costs and benefits associated with adaptation and resilience interventions. As part of the process, selected case studies were used to test and validate the proposed methodology and assess its practical application within ADB-financed projects.
In addition, the consultancy prepared training materials and capacity-building resources to support the implementation of the methodology across ADB operations. The project contributed to expanding knowledge and improving the assessment of adaptation and resilience benefits, supporting the Bank’s objective of scaling up climate finance and strengthening climate-resilient development in its member countries.
