Project description
The project focused on assessing and prioritising climate change adaptation options for two coastal regions -Boka Kotorska Bay in Montenegro and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima in Morocco- with the objective of estimating the costs and benefits of adaptation investments and supporting decision-making on climate resilience strategies. The study addressed the growing pressures faced by coastal ecosystems and communities as a result of climate change and environmental degradation.
The work included the identification and selection of adaptation measures, the collection and analysis of data required to estimate implementation costs and expected benefits, and the quantification of the economic impacts associated with each adaptation option. Particular attention was given to evaluating the potential contribution of adaptation measures to reducing climate risks and enhancing the resilience of coastal areas.
A comprehensive cost-benefit analysis (CBA) was undertaken for the selected adaptation measures, allowing for the comparison and prioritisation of alternative interventions. Based on the results, the project developed recommendations regarding the financial viability, feasibility and strategic relevance of the proposed adaptation initiatives, supporting investment planning and adaptation policy development in both regions.
