Project description
The project aimed to assess the environmental and economic sustainability of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, analysing the environmental pressures associated with the museum’s activities and its contribution to the sustainable economy of Venice. The study also estimated the economic value of environmental impacts and the potential benefits of sustainability improvements.
The economic sustainability component analysed the contribution of the museum to the local economy, including demand for local goods and services and direct and indirect employment effects. An input-output analysis was conducted to estimate the wider economic impacts of the museum and assess the sustainability of associated supply chains. The project resulted in reports summarising the current and future environmental and economic sustainability of the museum.
