Project description
The project aimed to support the development of the Valencian Integrated Energy and Climate Change Plan (PVIECC) 2021–2030, in line with the objectives established in the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) and the Draft Law on Climate Change and Ecological Transition of the Valencian Community. The Plan sought to define the most appropriate measures to contribute, from a regional perspective, to the achievement of national and European climate and energy goals.
The main activities of the project included the preparation of a diagnosis of the initial regional situation across all relevant sectors, with particular attention to the strategic areas identified in the Draft Law on Climate Change and Ecological Transition. Based on this assessment, the project identified lines of action and transition pathways aimed at maximizing opportunities and co-benefits for the economy, employment, public health and the environment, while addressing the specific needs of different sectors. The project also aimed to strengthen the proactive role of the Valencian Community in the context of the energy transition and climate change adaptation process. To this end, it defined regional objectives and action lines for 2030 related to decarbonisation, greenhouse gas mitigation, energy security, research and innovation (R+D+I), and renewable energy production.
