Project description
The consultancy aimed to support Rwanda’s transition towards an inclusive, just and climate-resilient green economy through the development of a stocktaking study analysing existing policies, strategies and programmes related to green economic transformation (GET). The study sought to ensure that future support provided by the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) would build upon and align with ongoing national initiatives and sustainability priorities.
The work included the assessment of progress, challenges, enabling factors and opportunities associated with Rwanda’s green economic transformation, as well as the identification of priority areas for future PAGE engagement. The study also mapped national and sectoral sustainability priorities, targets and investment needs to support the evaluation of progress and remaining gaps in the country’s transition towards green growth.
In addition, the consultancy developed a country profile covering the socio-economic context, existing plans and strategies, key stakeholders and ongoing activities related to the green economy transition. The project also provided recommendations for future analysis, policy actions and partnerships to support sustainable growth, poverty reduction, job creation, social equity and environmental sustainability.
