She is an environmental economist with over 6 years of experience in climate change, the blue economy, and sustainable economic development. Her work spans multiple international projects, particularly in West African coastal regions and island territories, where she has contributed through sustainable resource management, socio-economic impact assessments and local economic development to promote the conservation of coastal and marine ecosystems.

Ainhoa has worked as a researcher at the University Institute for Tourism & Sustainable Economic Development (TiDES) on EU-funded projects. She has also worked as a consultant for various clients, including the World Bank, the FAO, the IDB and other regional public and private bodies, addressing fisheries and tourism-related challenges from a sustainability perspective.
