Economic Assessment of Environmental Impacts:
Metroeconomica is a leading exponent of assessment and quantification of the economic welfare impacts of cross-media environmental impacts. It has particular expertise in air quality and climate. Metroeconomica was responsible for the valuation methodology of the health impacts assessed in the EU Clean Air For Europe (CAFE) Cost Benefit Analysis, and is responsible for the subsequent up-dates within the European Consortium for Modelling Air Pollution and Climate Strategies (EC4MACS).
Metroeconomica is one of Europe’s leading institutions on assessing the economic aspects of climate change. Consultants at Metroeconomica participated in the preparation of the recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Third and Fourth Assessment Report. The company has particular expertise in:

Environmental Policy Analysis:
A core area of expertise over many years has been analysis in support of effective environmental policy interventions in a great many contexts. We have undertaken appraisal studies of environmentally-related strategies and policy options for many national Governments and international bodies, including the European Commission and UNEP. Key areas of our work include the economic impacts of environment policies, the introduction of environmental market-based instruments, as well as the linkages between trade policy and the environment. Our experience also includes the appraisal of environment policy in the context of poverty and livelihoods, and assessment of policy relating to occupational health risks

Capacity Building:
Metroeconomica has worked with a variety of public sector, private sector, and NGO clients to enhance their capacity for environmental management and governance. These projects have ranged from the provision of training workshops in environmental economics, to advising on the establishment and strategy of environment related organisations. Environmental Management and Sustainability:
We have established expertise in many aspects of environmental management and sustainability. Key areas of our work include state of the environment reporting and the development of sustainable development indicators. We provide guidance and support with Life Cycle Assessment studies and Life Cycle Costing, including advice on methodological issues, data collection, literature reviews and model development. Our experience includes carbon management such as the development of greenhouse gas emissions inventories, establishing emission baselines and targets, and developing action plans. We also support organisations to implement and audit Environmental Management Systems.
